Trevor Wilson is a global diversity strategist and visionary leader. He is sought as much for his knowledge and expertise as he is for his style, executive presence and ability to coach executives to be the best and most equitable leaders.
Leveraging over two decades of innovative experience in diversity, inclusiveness and Human Equity™ management, Wilson is regularly invited to participate in leading-edge diversity think-tanks, conferences and is often profiled in the media. Most recently, Wilson was the only consultant from outside of the U.S. profiled in a Diversity Journal feature on the Pioneers of Diversity.
Wilson’s career began in 1984 doing community work on the precedent- setting report Equality Now!, which led to his appointment as former premier David Peterson’s senior advisor on issues of multiculturalism, race relations, employment equity, affirmative action and human rights. In 1989 he was named president of Omnibus Consulting Inc., one of Canada’s leading consulting practices on workplace employment equity issues.
In 1996 Wilson started his own consulting practice, TWI Inc., a consulting firm specializing in diversity. The firm’s clients include some of the most progressive global employers, including Coca-Cola, Ernst & Young, Nike, Shell, and Raytheon. TWI’s trademarked “Human Equity” approach was instrumental in catapulting Coca-Cola’s South African division to the top performing division worldwide.
In 1998, Wilson was the driving force behind the establishment of The Trinity Group – a group of global corporations dedicated to the development of standards in the measurement of diversity. That same year, he was nominated for the Entrepreneur of the Year Award, sponsored by Canadian Business magazine.
Wilson has many years of distinguished community service, previously serving on the City of Toronto Mayor’s Committee on Race Relations, the Ontario Council of Regents for the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology and as vice-president of government affairs for the African Canadian Entrepreneurs. He has been a member of the board of directors for the United Way and Inroads Canada Inc. He is also a certified facilitator of the International Black Summit. Wilson has a certificate in Industrial Relations, an Honours BA and a Master’s degree in Political Economy from the University of Toronto.
