OKINAWA time SATURDAY-FEBRUARY 2010

It is 10 am in Okinawa and my daughter Ebony-Azizi received a call on her duty phone letting us know that we are on a Tsunami warning and we need to be on higher ground by 2:30pm because of the earthquake in Chile something make happen here. We are fine. We will go to Kadena Military Base it is considered higher ground. We will be at a friend of Ebony-Azizi.

Here`s what I wrote yesterday

There was an Earthquake in Okinawa this morning. At about 5:30 am I was awaken by something shaking me, the shaking got stronger and stronger,finally I was awake and the room was vibrating. It lasted for 3 or 5 minutes. I laid there it brought back memories of California,I have been in every earthquake in California since 1960. I remember them all. After the shaking stopped I got up and my daughter called to me from her bedroom and we both acknowledge that we were ok,then I went to the bathroom and went back to bed in about 5 minutes my daughter shouted from her room that she had been notified via her duty phone that there was a Tsunami Warning and that anyone close to water should head for higher ground. My daughter was 27, shouting that we needed to leave the apartment in 5 minutes because we lived about 6 blocks from the beach.
I grabbed my medication and backpack that had my passport and ID for getting on Kadena Military base/ I thought my computer and internet usb adapter was in the backpack, to my dismay it was not.

We got in the car and drove 40 minutes to Kadena Military Base and stayed with at a Friend`s house on base for about two hours before the warning was lifted. What a way to mark my first family online reunion in honor of my mom who passed away July 2009. But I am safe and my daughter is safe. So family is well. Wow what an experience.
