Event Description

Welcome to "The Conversation of, about and for Black Men:"

This conversation was born in 2009 when Llenar Bragg brought James G., David P., Jonn T. and Claudy C. together over a vision for the men of and inside the International Black Summit to engage in very real and intimate conversations that express our spirituality; push the participants to build economies responsible for funding our community; directed us to examine wellness of being in our bodies; establishing nurturing relationships starting with the participants; and altering the conversation of who we are in the media.

We have completed on our conversation for 2012 and invite you to join us in a new conversation for Black Men with distinctions that we have developed over the past three years.

David has chronicled the conversation as follows:

What is it, what would it look like in the world if/when Black Men are being accountable, responsible and making A Difference?

Tracking The Men’s Calls: The Three Areas we focused on in our calls

1. Building economies responsible for funding our community

2. Maintaining wellness of being in our bodies

3. Establishing nurturing relationships

Possible Conversations or Spaces We Moved Through:

  • · What is it to be Accountable, Responsible and Making a Difference?
  • · What is it to be “Grounded” as a Black Man?
  • · What are the conversations we grew up inside of about being a Black Man?

o All we gotta do is stay Black and die!

o Men Don’t…

o Black Men Don’t….

  • · What were we told about being successful?

o We gotta be 10 times better!

o You gotta play by the rules!

  • · The Waiting Conversation

o Once I get my shit together…

o Once I get to the bottom of this….

o Once I get this all figured out…

  • · From Lip-Service to Life Serving

o Clearing Myself to hear what Life, what God has for me

o Trusting the conversation

  • · Talking About “Shit” vs Being About “Shit”
  • · Claudy’s “Wake Up” Call!
  • · Embracing What You Resist!

o David and his variant of narcolepsy

o Claudy’s story

o What if what we resist is actually God’s Gift to us?

  • · Distinguish “trigger” and what may be on the other side of this trigger?
  • · What would life look like if we each embraced our highest selves?

o The gig is up!

o The conversations that used to give us who we are in the world are no longer running the show

  • · Being our highest and best selves and that we make a difference, how do we expand that?

o Results versus the reasons why not

You are welcome to share this invitation with other Black Men and prepare to share.
